Hi everyone! I'm a jazz saxophone player here in my town, and I'm an incurable jazz freak! I love it all, from the lilting and frenetic Charlie Parker, to the insanity of Michael Brecker, and the musical entwinement of Chick Corea and Gary Burton. Any other serious jazz enthusiasts out there?

Yes, yes yes yes! *stands on a table waving a massive sign proclaiming my enthusiastic love for JAZZ*.
Pat Metheny, Dave Holland, Alan Holdsworth, Al Di Meola, Charlie Haden ....must I go on?
Thanks for posting this!

big thumbs up to Cort for posting these artists! I love them all, as well as other obscure--and not so obscure--dots on the jazz map such as Chad Wackerman, Gregg Bissonette, Steve Erquiaga, and Christian Mcbride.

An artist who has really blown me away in the past couple of years is Eldar Djangirov! He is a really young dude (about 20 I think), with the technical prowess and tastefulness that just launches me into the stratosphere! He has the speed of Oscar Peterson, the eloquence of Bill Evans, with a little McCoy Tyner and Herby thrown in to boot. He has this devilish musical sense of humor as well. Just check out his rendition of "Fly me to the Moon" on the "Eldar" CD. You guys will love it!! The young Japanese pianist Makoto Ozone is awesome as well. He's more cerebral and mathematical, but he is one of my faves too.

I've heard Ozone with Gary Burton's new quartet Generations, and he's deep. While we're on the subject of great jazz pianists, I can't allow the name of my heartthrob, Laurence Hobgood, to go unmentioned.
